STUDY NO. 1 CUSTOM PROGRAMMING

A
client of ours, a greeting card company, came to us with a nice
problem: they were about to quadruple their business. The problem?
Their current software couldn't handle the increased processing
load. We set about programming changes in finished goods inventory;
accounts receivable; sales analysis and commissions; and order
processing. The project was a huge success, and the client didn't
have to replace the existing hardware or software.

STUDY NO. 2 HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
SELECTION

One
of our clients makes leather and nylon products, including leather
belts. To improve operations they set out to install a complete
Enterprise Resource Planning system to handle inventory control,
material handling, shop floor planning, accounting, and order
processing. They were faced with a bewildering choice of hardware
and software proposals, prices, and promises. We guided them
through the selection process, directed their focus and eliminated
one vendor after another to arrive at the most cost-effective
solution.

STUDY NO. 3 SHOP FLOOR DATA COLLECTION

One
of our largest clients is a major producer of folding cartons.
In addition to selecting their computer and database system,
we wrote all of their plant software, including inventory control,
material handling, scheduling, cost accounting, customer service
and specialized applications for CAD-CAM and graphics. We're
now installing a shop floor data collection system to give them
real-time control over all manufacturing operations.

STUDY NO. 4 INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

At
least Humpty Dumpty wouldn't have health insurance hassles today
thanks to a system we developed for a regional bank association.
The group administers various health insurance plans for employees
of its member banks. The system administers and processes all premiums,
billings and payments to insurers, providing valuable management
reports as well.

STUDY NO. 5 ENTERPRISE-WIDE SOLUTIONS

A
furniture manufacturer brought us in to help them improve their
operations by installing an Enterprise Resource Planning system
to oversee all plantwide operations including inventory control,
material handling, and shop floor planning. First we steered
them through the confusing process of selecting hardware and
off-the-shelf software. Now we're involved in custom programming
and integrating all the pieces into a smoothly running system.

CASE STUDY NO. 6 INDUSTRIES

We
have unusual clients with equally unusual requirements. One
of these is a leading producer of feeds for various animals
- cows, chickens, and horses.
Some time ago, we were asked to design a computerized system
for mixing cow feed that would supplement the animals' grazing
diet in order to maximize milk production. After analyzing specific
grass samples, a mix formula would be developed employing five
or six ingredients such as soybeans, corn, molasses, and barley
in different amounts. Once the formula was entered into the
computer, the system would drive chute motors on various bins,
dumping the appropriate amounts into the mix.
We selected the UNIX-based computer, wrote the database application
to interface the computer with the chute motors, and wrote the
program to control the motors and set the timing.
The system worked like a charm. The cost? Chicken feed.
